Employee Spotlight: Lori Hays

Lori Hays is the new Sales Manager at General Communications and brings a wealth of knowledge and energy to our team. We are happy to have her and excited to have her share a little more about herself in this Employee Spotlight feature.

You joined the General Communications family in September.  May you tell us a little about your prior experience?

I started my sales career in industrial distribution where I spent 12 years selling in Alabama and leading teams in Wisconsin and northern Illinois. After that I sold lights and sirens for Code3 in five Midwest states including Wisconsin. My time at Code3 gave me great insights into the Public Safety industry and is where I first had the opportunity to meet and work with the General Communications team.

How are you getting acclimated to the business and the company culture?

It has been a great pleasure to work with a wonderful team of people who are passionate about the industry and their customers. Everyone here has unique talents and I look forward to leading a successful sales team into the future. It is an honor and I’m very excited to be on the General Communications team!

What has a typical day for you as the sales manager looked like so far?

My first few months have been spent learning everything I can about the people I work with, our suppliers, the history of the company and the industries we support. While I was definitely able to hit the ground running with my background in lights and sirens, there is always so much to learn when you join such a dynamic company and industry.

What are you most passionate about at work?

My passion is leading and developing people and creating a collaborative environment across all internal teams so we can work together to bring the strongest solutions and support to our customers.

What activities do you enjoy in your spare time?

I enjoy hiking, running, and spending time with my family.

Tell us something that others may not know about you.

In addition to my sales career, I’m a ChiRunning instructor and love to work with plus size athletes like myself, to help them enjoy the freedom in movement I have learned to love.
