GenComm’s Partnership with Rusk County

When it comes to public safety, dependable communication makes all the difference. That’s why Rusk County—a community located in northwestern Wisconsin between Eau Claire and Lake Superior—partnered with GenComm to design and install a new countywide radio system that delivers clear, reliable coverage for all first responder agencies.

GenComm installed a P25 Digital and Analog simulcast radio system to provide seamless countywide coverage for Rusk County’s public safety agencies. The system is powered by Tait TB9400 base stations and integrated with a Mindshare Digital dispatch console system, ensuring smooth communication between dispatch and first responders.

To strengthen network performance and resilience, the project included two new radio sites, complete with shelters and generators, as well as a redundant Fiber and Microwave system to ensure reliable connectivity. GenComm also implemented an alarm system that automatically notifies dispatchers, supervisors, and technicians of any station or building issues—adding an extra layer of operational awareness.

Rusk County Sheriff, Phil Grassmann, shared his appreciation for the collaboration and the system’s immediate impact:

“I want to express my gratitude to the team at GenComm for their professionalism and hard work in completing the radio upgrade. Your technical expertise and attention to detail have significantly improved our communication capabilities, which are vital for ensuring the safety of our deputies and the community. This upgrade marks a major step forward in enhancing interoperability, reliability, and overall operational efficiency within our department and other public safety entities in our county.”

For GenComm, projects like Rusk County’s exemplify what it means to serve public safety customers by providing advanced technology and dependable support. This system was designed to deliver the reliability and interoperability that today’s first responders need. We’re proud to know it’s helping the county communicate more effectively when every second counts.
