As a family business, GenComm truly considers its customers and employees to be family. We recognize that every role in our family matters: the contributions of our employees have facilitated GenComm’s growth, just as each member of a family helps it thrive. Every team member is part of the GenComm story, having helped build our company up to where we stand today.
In recognition of this hard work contributed by GenComm’s employees last year, GenComm held its annual Employee Appreciation Party earlier this year. The entire GenComm team gathered at Potawatomi Casino Hotel (a long-time GenComm customer) in Milwaukee, WI. Employees were treated to food and beverages and lobbied for coveted door prizes.
Several members of GenComm’s Executive Team gave speeches, including Mark Stanmeyer, VP of Sales and Operations, and Gary Pelletier, VP of Service and Engineering. Those in attendance also honored Sharon Vlack, representing her husband Verne and herself as the founders of GenComm. In the words of Greg Vlack, GenComm’s President and CEO, “It’s important to recognize where we came from. Without [Sharon] and…Verne, we would not be where we are today.”
Vlack also commented on GenComm’s success in 2024, noting many successfully pursued opportunities and accomplished large projects. To keep up with the increased workload, GenComm hired 26 people since it held its Employee Appreciation Party last year. Each of these individuals was mentioned by name and celebrated as valued additions to the company.
GenComm also uses the yearly party as an opportunity to honor employees’ years of service, in 5-year increments. Awards were handed out for several individuals earning their 5-, 10-, 15-, and 20-year honors. Five employees received 25-year honors, and incredibly, two team members were given their 45-year awards this year. As evidenced by these accolades, GenComm has many long-term employees, and we are grateful for their commitment to our company, customers, and communities.
Vlack shared, “GenComm would not be where it is today without your dedication and efforts. Together as a team, there is nothing we can’t accomplish as a company!”
Overall, the night was a heartfelt celebration of the GenComm team members and all they do—and a great reminder that our company is more than a workplace, it’s a family.
