Inventory Coordinator – Shipping, Receiving (Fitchburg)

Position Summary:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and reliable Inventory Coordinator to join our operations team. This position plays a critical role in managing the flow of materials, equipment and parts for emergency vehicle upfitting, communication system installations, and service work. The ideal candidate will have experience in warehouse operations, inventory control, and logistics, and will thrive in a fast-paced, technology-focused environment. This position is based in Fitchburg, WI.
Report To: Operations Manager
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Inventory Management
- Track inventory levels of equipment, hardware, and installation parts.
- Perform regular cycle counts and full physical inventories.
- Organize warehouse and storage areas for maximum efficiency and safety.
- Maintain accurate inventory records in inventory management software.
- Assist with restocking and issuing parts for installations and service work.
- Monitor inventory usage trends and report discrepancies or shortages to leadership.
- Operational Support
- Work closely with the installation and service teams to pull and prepare equipment.
- Assist with job staging and ensuring technicians have what they need on time.
- Coordinate with purchasing and vendors regarding backorders or delivery issues.
- Support return merchandise authorization (RMA) processing and warranty claims.
- Work closely with the Installation department to receive inventory returns and complete invoicing.
- Shipping & Receiving
- Receive all incoming shipments, verify accuracy against purchase orders, and inspect for damage.
- Organize and label incoming equipment and components for proper storage.
- Prepare outgoing shipments for customer orders, field technicians, or inter-company transfers.
- Coordinate pickups and deliveries with carriers (UPS, FedEx, Speedee, freight carriers, etc.).
- Ensure all shipments are accurately documented in the system.
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications/Requirements:
- High school diploma or GED required; associate degree or vocational training preferred.
- 2+ years of experience in shipping/receiving, inventory, or warehouse operations.
- Familiarity with technology, radio equipment, or electronic components a plus.
- Strong attention to detail and organization skills.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and operate pallet jacks or forklifts (certification preferred).
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, inventory systems, and shipping platforms (e.g., UPS WorldShip).
- Strong communication and problem-solving abilities.
